7 & 8 Sept, 2024
This workshop offers a form of group work designed to foster the desire and ability to take part in the healing of our world.
Traditionally, Permaculture was seen as a system of gardening and land management, but it is far more. Permaculture is a system of ecological design that looks to nature as our model. It is truly the art of designing beneficial relationships.
Relationships between plants, insects, soil, water, natural building, solar and eco-systems, as complex as they may be, are relatively easy to design. Relationships between people are much more challenging. Ninety percent of intentional communities and collaborative groups fail primarily because of interpersonal conflict.
This is no wonder. We are embedded in larger systems that have ripped our relational context, encouraging divisiveness and elevating some peoples’ good over others. This is entirely opposite to how nature works - and - Nature Works! For eons, she has continued to create more diverse and beautiful opportunities for life to thrive based on cooperation.
Now more than ever, we need to learn how to design supportive, nurturing relationships with a vision that enables us to work together to restore our beautiful hearts and souls into harmony with each other and the living world.
This experiential workshop follows a spiral sequence based on Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects, which flows through four stages: gratitude, honouring our pain for the world, seeing with new and ancient eyes, and finally, going forth. These consecutive stages reflect a natural sequence of psychological growth and spiritual transformation.
Perspectives are drawn from systems science, Deep Ecology, and Earth-centred spirituality. Somatic practices that express and embody our existential connectivity with the web of life are woven throughout the weekend.
This process has helped thousands of people worldwide find the moral and psychological courage to act despite the many challenges we face as we transition to a world built on connection, love and respect for all of life.
