Forest Garden Permaculture Walk-Abouts, Consultation & Design

Walk-Abouts & Ecological Design Services

What is a Forest Gardening Walk-About? During the initial session, Shantree Kacera Permaculture Educator and Forest Gardener explores with the property owner(s) how to take advantage of the abundant natural resources surrounding their home or property (such as the sun, rain, wind, climate and soil). The goal is to assists the homeowner in exploring what elements they would most benefit from by implementing a forest gardening permaculture design for their home and/or lot. This is a verbal assessment of the property.

 There are Three Package Options:

  1. Walk-About Package

  2. Consulting & Design Package

  3. Customization Services

1) Walk-About Package ($380 plus Mileage & hst)

This package would be for 4 hours @ $95 per hour plus at 50 cents per km plus hst.

Now, there are two ways you can organize an event such as this, for a half day workshop of let’s say $50 per person. And if 12 individuals come out that’s $600, which would cover my costs, and you attend for free then.

And, if you decide to organized a one-day workshop at $120 per day and perhaps $95 for early bird special. Let’s say you got 12 individuals at $95 each that’s $1140. If I am teaching a 7 hr. day plus one hour for lunch (9 to 5pm) that would be $665 plus mileage and the rest is yours to cover your time organizing the event and once again you get to attend for free. And as for lunch that can be a potluck or everyone just bring his or her own lunch.

Or the second option is you hire me to do the Walk-About just for you, which means you can ask all those questions you want to know about your land.

Design suggestions

Creating a Forest Garden will help you make the shift to a low-maintenance garden, a water wise or edible landscape, set you up with a permaculture design, give you advice about making your yard a more private space, or how to turn it into a great place to inspire of a harmonious way to live with nature.

Project planning

You know what you want to do, but you don’t know who can help you. We support the project (develop a time-line) and set you on the right road.

2) Consulting & Design Package ($995. plus Mileage & hst)

Process Works in 5-Parts:

  1. The first part is the client interview. I will try to find out as much information as possible regarding your needs, your plans, your resources, etc.

  2. The second part is walking the land. Through careful observation, I will read the landscape, observe the energy flow and provide you with a preliminary assessment of what the land has to offer.

  3. The third part is the preliminary design. How do we get from here to there, from what the land has to offer to what you want to do on the land. Different strategies, techniques and plants will be suggested to you.

  4. The fourth part is the implementation of the design project, which would be part of your creativity work.

  5. The fifth part would be the evaluation of the design project, which would be later in the future on a date we all agree upon.

The full project package fee would be $995. plus mileage expenses and other costs that may arise which of course be notified of this in advance. Half of the payment is due upon beginning the project and the remainder after the third part of the project.

“I thoroughly enjoy working creatively with people who have a vision of what they want, but don’t know exactly how to get there It’s great to watch the face of a homeowner light up when they realize their dream gardens are attainable.”
